During my time at Queen’s University, I applied and was selected to take part in the Queen’s Indian Student Association (QISA).
QISA is a network of students of Queen’s University who are united by a common interest or connection to the Indian culture. QISA offers a several opportunities catering to interests of all our members. QISA organizes the largest cultural formal on campus, a night full of South Asian culture, complete with authentic Indian food and dance.
My role as Graduate Student’s Representative at QISA consisted of organizing and promoting the club’s activities and events to a base of graduate students at Queen’s. Some of the activities I took part in organizing were:
- The annual Diwali Dinner and Dance party;
- A Bollywood Movie Night;
- A Traditional Dance Night;
- An Annual Club Fundraiser;
- An Indian Dance Competition.
My experience as part of the QISA family was rewarding as it allowed me to stay in touch with my roots, while contributing to the Queen’s community at large.
